Plus de 20.000 personnes et 12 groupes musicaux ont payé, le 29 juillet à la Henfrasa, un tribut au Compas Direct de Nemours Jean-Baptiste en participant à un mégaconcert qui a coûté près de 250.000 dollars américains

Le soleil est à son zénith. Chose rarissime, les ingénieurs chargés du son, de la lumière et du montage de la scène sont dans les temps. Les derniers tests effectués, ils donnent le feu vert à l'ouverture de la première édition en Haïti de "Ayiti men konpa", une initiative de Nouvèl Jenerasyon Productions de Joubert Charles.

Un t-shirt jaune sur le dos, le regard vif, une calvitie de plus en plus prononcée, Joubert Charles, entouré de quelques agents de la Cimo est à l'affût des moindres imperfections dans l'organisation. Il passe des consignes.

Le défi à relever est de taille pour l'organisateur de ce spectacle qui a su convaincre d'innombrables sponsors de mettre les mains à la poche afin de rassembler les 250.000 dollars américains indispensables à la réalisation de l'événement. Un événement considéré comme un hommage, un tribut à Nemours Jean-Baptiste, le père du compas direct. Le décor planté, le public haïtien, habitué aux retards, ne se rue vers les portes de la Henfrasa qu'après 16 heures. Filtrés par le service d'ordre, des jeunes et moins jeunes ayant rêvé, en Haïti, d'un spectacle réunissant sur une même scène Tabou Combo, System Band, Mizik Mizik et Djakout sont excités. Savant mélange, sept autres groupes représentant la nouvelle génération dont T-Vice, Carimi, Kreyòl La, Fasil, Back-Up ,T-Zee sont aussi à l'affiche. Hommage au rythme, c'est l'orchestre évangélique Eben-Ezer qui ouvre le spectacle. Pas de discrimination, de fausse pudeur, on rend hommage à la musique, un vecteur universel, lache un fan inconditionnel de Eric Charles de Mizik Mizik. Un groupe au répertoire riche.Pendant plus de quatre heures, les groupes se sont succédé pour les délices d'un public qui, enivré de plaisir, retient l'entrée remarquée de Kreyòl La, la maîtrise d'un Tabou Combo, de la bande à Fabrice Rouzier ou d'un System Band mené par l'inusable Isnar Douby.

Djakout Mizik, le groupe le plus populaire du moment, au terme du festival, tient en haleine la Henfrasa, remplie à craquer pour l'occassion.Et le Jam de tous les artistes avec le tube de Ti Manno « Mache maché fè konpa maché », le speech de Shoubou sur l'unité de la famille haïtienne, comble de bonheur jusqu'à occulter les dérapages provoqués par des festivaliers impatients à cause des failles dans l'organisation.« Il y a des erreurs que nous corrigerons à l'avenir », reconnaît M.Frantz Duval, directeur de publication de Ticket Magazine impliqué dans l'organisation de l'événement marquant les 52 ans de la musique dansante de chez nous.

M. Duval, très satisfait dans l'ensemble, estime qu'il faut mettre la barre un peu plus haut à chaque fois. C'est la seule façon d'avancer. Ouvert et confiant dans l'avenir de la musique et de la culture haïtienne, Frantz Duval regrette que le ministère de la Culture et de la Communication ait tant brillé par son absence dans l'accompagnement de ce festival lancé le 19 mai 2007, à Bay Front Park, à Miami, dans le cadre du « Haitian Compas Festival »A l'issue de ce festival, on comprend mieux pourquoi le créateur ne meurt jamais. Qu'il soit Mozart, Gardel ou Nemours Jean-Baptiste..., le génie appartient à la postérité. En Haïti, tous s'accordent à le dire, la commémoration du compas à une autre saveur, une autre dimension. Verite does have a point. It's biblical and there is no if or but, one either love the world or Christ. In logic, when 2 world views are incompatible both cannot be true at the same, you either chose one over the other. HOWEVER, i must say that playing a certain GENRE is not what make a soul UNCLEAN. When it comes to genuine worship, the TRUE Christ' servant (not super star) will make sure that He/she not taking the spotlight just to put on a show but to genuinely serve his master. BOTTOM LINE, LOOKING AT A CERTAIN MUSICAL GENRE ONLY PROVIDE US WITH OUTWARD APPEARANCE, WE KNOW ALREADY HOW DECEIVING OUTWARD APPEARANCES CAN BE.... Singing Hymns alone does not guarantee anyone a VIP seat in heaven, And playing KOMPA does not automatically give someone a one boarding pass to HELL. You could playing any GENRE and still Keep a CHristly Character. What if you playing kompa, rock, heavy, metal and so one with the right attitude, with a pure heart? We can give advise but we must be careful not to fall inot legallistic just like the pharisees.

I advise every gospel musician to try to emulate Christ' Character in their music. David wasn't all perfect, but he pleased GOd due to the fact that he was a genuine worshipper(true servant). LET'S NOT PLAY DE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE LESS BRING JUDGEMENT ON OUR OWN HEAD. IF WE THE BODY OF CHRIST. To Verite I honestly would like to let you know at first when I was reading your comments, I thought I could work with what you were saying. But as you went on it seems you were taking this very personal. Plus you could not even give Jn Michel an answer to his question. So now I would like to ask you some questions and please, please answer me honestly and don't tell me about go ahead enjoy kompa. So do you listen to Kirk Franklin? If yes. What would you about him taking an "Earth Wind and Fire" song such as "September" and put Godly lyric in it? Also I would like for you to explaine what is christian Kompa? What is Godly music? Wasn't music created by God himself? Do you think God have a preference when it comes to music? If so did you have a conversation with God himself about that? Do you think you can tell Jamacans not to play reggea which is the way they know how to worship and praise God? or any nation for that matter. Once again please, please answer the questions and also that defending God's work I truely understand where you coming from and totally agree with you. But right now I just would really love for to answer the questions.

You cannot mix an inspired Wordly dance beat with an Heavenly Inspired text. I'm including alll secular music, Kirk Franklin's music is suppose to be gospel music, but it is really secular dance music with christian lyrics, this is why as a gospel artist he's on bet, mtv, etc. The staff from the Haitian Compas Festival would never ask any Haitian gospel group to play if they know that the music is 100% purely inspired by God and doesn't copy anything secular bands. They know that the public will not have a problem with a Heavy Konpa Levanjil Band, because at the end of the day, they're still playing konpa direk so people will dance, and a lot of grooves will be played, the people dance tro the grooves in konpa, not the lyrics.

Leave the secular music for the world, we 're not suppose to be of this world or copy the things of it. We're not suppose to be friends of this world, this is all Biblical.

Rap, dancehall, Rock, konpa etc are all Major worldy secular music.

Well Verite it seems to me that you would like christian bands to be like the Adventist Church. Which is playing with an organ every saturday morning, maybe by your pastor or the deacon of the church in that one particular key. It also seems you wouldn't want to hear of Haitian Christian bands to play Kompa, that I can't agree with you becuase its part of our culture. If you saying we need and have to be original in what we do I'll be the first to be on board with you 100%. Because are and should remain the light of the world. I like # 505 in the Hymn et Louanges. You can't bring the Light to the world in the way they like, then it won't truly be light. I understand a lot of Haitians love konpa, that's not an excuse to play konpa to reach them. They will see that your handing them the same thing but with different lyrics.

I garauntee there will be a Vodou Levanjil Band or it might already exist.

You see this is what I've Been saying for the past year. Revelation is a band that states they are Christian, but in reality that is not the fact. First off, I can't say that for all them boys in Revelation because I know some of them are truly using music to serve God. But you know what they say, If your leader is a corrupted individual then you will become one too without you knowing.

Let me get to the point. Revelation has a band leader/manager/maestro called Eazy. He is Revelation. He kicked Ti- Harold, and Ti-lenet out so that he would have more power and say in the band. For people that don't know the story, Ti-harold, Ti-Lenet, and Eazy were the founding members of Revelationx. Now with all this power in his hands, he is using it to fool us Christian. Eazy is using Revelation to get into the secular world. He knows it is very hard for a secular band to get noticed because there are so many popping up everywhere but it is much easier for a so called Christian band to get notice by the promoters and or bands in the Haitian Music Industry (HMI). The secular world is filled with up and coming bands that are really good and have allot of potential. But in the Gospel music industry (GMI), there are a hand full of band that really sound good and have potential. So when you make a name for yourself, you stand out amongst the rest. Which are not allot.

This is not rocket science people. Ask your self this question, Why does Revelation only play in outdoor events,fest,concerts,and parties? Why doesn't this so called Christian band play in church or church surroundings? If they every did play in church, it was when Ti-Harold was in the band as Maestro. OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!! Eazy changes member like he changes his underwear, allot. Some of the member don't like what they see and they just leave. And them other boys that ask questions and want to know what is really going on, just get kicked out. Revelation played last Saturday with no keyboards and no bass player. The gongist had to hold the bass so that people wouldn't notice.

Now we see Eazy/Revelation getting ready to play in kompa fest. What is Revelation going to do at Kompa Fest? Preach the gospel? or show off to the HMI? What is next, Revelation and Nulook @ Marabou Cafe! Where and when is it going to stop? We need to stop supporting Revelaion and let them try to make it in the secular world without the name of Christ. We need to boycott their music and shows. And show them you can't play with God. Them boys need to know that they cannot use God's name in vain.

I know I am going to get allot of grief from Revelation supports but I am just stating fact. Revelation playing at Kompa fest is like me taking a shower and then going out to the back to clean the pigs, knowing very well that I will get dirty again.

I've been following most threads on levanjiltv for the longest. I posted a few posts back in the old forum format. After reading everything that is going on regarding the latest Revelation events, I decide to start posting again.

For now, all I will say is this: I listened to the first 3 minutes or so of "Satan m pa pè w" about a million times. My soul was so blessed that heaven must have been rejoicing since the day our Revelation brothers put this song out.

Since a couple of months, they released another single "chwa pa m". First, Rossini is one of the best singers HAITIANS as a nation has and we should be very proud to have such a talented singer as a Christian brother, not lost in this world. Second, that song is so profound that I have no doubt the Holy Spirit had a full active part in that song's composition. I can't even count how many times I heard it neither how strongly my soul rejoices because of it.

One may not agree with their style (and I'm not saying I am either), because everybody has their own cultural preferences based on the extent or the limits of their education. And most of the times, the less educated ones -who always want to be right even with the petiteness of their cultural and social education- reccur to the Bible as an escape in order to fish out after verses to fill up their educational void as if a solid spiritual education annihilates all the other types of education.

But if anybody doubts that those guys are doing God's work, I would strongly invite everyone who is reading this post to pray for that person. Because, you need the Holy Spirit in you FIRST in order to see it in others. As the French saying goes: IL FAUT ETRE UN LION POU RECONNAITRE UN LION. Si Lespri Bondye pa nan ou, ou pa ka wè l nan yon lòt. That's why the law-defenders of the Temple in the times of Jesus couldn't see that God has come down to them.

Revelation my brothers, STAY IN THE LORD and LOOK FOR HIS PRESENCE ... and God will help you tackle the imperfections you have (and all of us have a few).

We need to pray for the "Konpa Direk- Levanjil" bands.
